Glencoe Mountain Resort – General Terms and Conditions 2025/26

These Terms and Conditions apply to all bookings, activities, equipment hire, and services offered by Glencoe Mountain Resort Ltd. By making a booking or participating in any activity, you agree to be bound by these terms.


1. Booking and Payment

Confirmation of Booking

  • Bookings must be paid in full at the time of reservation.

  • Until payment is received, your booking is not confirmed.

Accepted Payment Methods

  • Online and in-person payments are accepted via credit/debit card.

  • All prices include VAT where applicable.


2. Cancellations and Refund Policy

Customer-Initiated Cancellations

  • More than 72 hours’ notice: Full refund.

  • 24–72 hours’ notice: 20% cancellation fee.

  • Less than 24 hours’ notice: No refund unless in exceptional circumstances at management’s discretion.

Last-Minute Bookings

  • Bookings made within 72 hours of the activity are non-refundable unless the activity is cancelled by GMR due to force majeure.

Force Majeure

  • If Glencoe Mountain Resort cancels due to extreme weather (e.g. gale-force winds, lightning, trail closures, insufficient snow), a credit will be applied to your online account. 

  • Relocation of a lesson or activity to an alternative facility (e.g. dry slope) does not qualify for a refund.


3. Activities and Lessons

Lesson Requirements

  • Appropriate clothing must be worn. Hire clothing is available for adverse conditions.

  • Children under 16 must have a parent/guardian remain on-site during lessons.

  • Minimum ages: 3 years (skiing), 5 years (snowboarding) for private lessons when available; 8 years for group lessons.

  • If only one person is booked into a 2hr group lesson (when available), it will become a 1-hour private lesson at no extra charge.

  • Should only one person be booked onto a full-day lesson, we reserve the right to offer a change of date or reduce the time of the lesson to a half day.

Dry Slope Usage

  • Only beginner lessons can be delivered on the dry slope.

  • Intermediate and advanced lessons will take place on the mountain, weather permitting.

  • The dryslope is purely for the use of  Glencoe Mountain Resort Snowsports School unless prior arrangments have been made.

Instructor Discretion

GMR instructors may refuse participation due to:

  • Late arrival

  • Intoxication or drug use

  • Abusive behaviour

  • Inappropriate clothing or lack of preparation

  • This list is not exhaustive, and should the instructor have good grounds to refuse participation, they may do so with manager's approval.

4. Equipment Hire (Snowsports and Bikes)

General Responsibilities

  • Customers are responsible for all hired items, including bikes, skis, snowboards, boots, poles, helmets, and protective gear.

  • Equipment must be returned in good condition by the stated return time.

Return Policy

  • All equipment must be returned by 16:45 (bikes) or 17:00 (snowsports) on the last day of hire.

  • Late returns may incur a charge (£10 or more).

  • Broken, lost, or tampered equipment will be charged at the replacement or repair cost.

Tampering

  • Equipment must only be adjusted by trained GMR staff. Any self-adjustment or tampering voids liability coverage.


5. Mountain Biking and Uplift

Eligibility and Supervision

  • Minimum age: 10 years.

  • Riders under 16 must be supervised by a responsible adult.

  • All riders must be competent and in good health.

Code of Practice & Participation Statement

By purchasing an uplift ticket, the rider agrees to:

  • Wear a helmet at all times (full-face and body armour required on black tracks).

  • Ride only on designated trails without cutting corners.

  • Respect other users, including walkers, staff, and slower riders.

  • Not wear iPods or similar audio devices while riding.

  • Comply with all signage and staff instructions.

  • Use toilets provided or face removal of uplift access.

Acceptance of Risk

Mountain biking is inherently dangerous. Riders participate at their own risk and must ensure they are insured for personal injury and third-party liability.


6. Bike Hire – Additional Terms

  • Minimum age: 10 years (with adult agreement).

  • Valid photo ID required.

  • Helmets are mandatory.

  • Riders are responsible for loss or damage.

  • Cancellations and refunds follow the general policy above.


7. Conduct and Safety

Glencoe Mountain Resort reserves the right to refuse service or participation to any customer who:

  • Behaves in an abusive or threatening manner

  • Is under the influence of alcohol or drugs

  • Refuses to follow staff instructions or safety protocols

  • Poses a risk to themselves or others


8. Liability and Risk

  • Participation in mountain sports carries inherent risks, including serious injury or death.

  • By participating, you accept these risks voluntarily.

  • GMR is not liable for:

    • Losses not reasonably foreseeable at the time of contract

    • Business-related losses

  • We do not exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence or any fraudulent acts.


9. Privacy and Data Protection

We comply with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR).


10. Jurisdiction and Complaints

Governing Law

This contract is governed by Scottish Law.
